The main aims and objectives of the organization include:

1. Pursuing needs-based conceptual and problem-oriented social researches to draw out the solutions of the social problems to enrich understanding of the people as well as to undertake social actions for promoting positive social changes.

2. Development of database on social issues of Bangladesh for ready reference as well as for present and future use by different social researchers.

3. Prepare, appraise and evaluate social development projects as per requirement of different development organizations and bodies.

4. Offer services for collecting, analysis and compilation of social data for different organizations as per their needs.

5. Undertake action research and pilot project to evolve solutions of different fundamental and critical social problems.

6. Conduct survey on public opinion and people's view to inform the society about the demand or needs of the day.

7. Extend support and cooperation to the native and alien social researchers to help them in pursuing their research works.

8. Disseminate research findings on social issues to keep people aware of the positive as well as negative changes those are taking place in the society.

9. Organize seminars, workshops, group discussions, public lectures, talks etc on different social problems and issues.

10. Publish research reports, journals, books, monographs, booklets, newsletter etc to make the research findings available for potential users.
